Indian Institute for Production Management (IIPM) was set-up by ICICI Limited in 1983 with active support from Larsen & Toubro Limited, Usha Martin, SAIL, Tata Steel and Government of Orissa.

The development of activities in the Institute have been supplemented by the following Overseas Agencies: Overseas Development Administration of British Council WM Engineering, University of Manchester, U.K. Pembrokeshire College, U.K. Fluid Power Certification Board, USA.

IIPM has been organizing Training Programmes for Managers and Supervisors from India and abroad for last 29 years. 25,073 participants from Indian industries and 1300 plus participants from 93 developing countries of the world have availed of the training facilities since the inception of the institute.

The Consultancy Services in critical areas of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) provided by the organization have benefited many industries.

Keeping in view the necessity to enhance the employability of Graduate Engineers and Diploma holders by training them in necessary Shop Floor Management, the institute has started Education Programmes in Engineering Management and Condition Monitoring.
